reikėjo žengti tris žingsnius,
kad pajustum laužų vos bežėruojančių
kaitrumą
o jis sustingęs žvelgė į rytus,
ten saulė užsimerkus
laukams drabužį audė naują.
reikėjo žengti tris žingsnius,
kad virst mirties paukščiu,
snapu suskaldžiusiu geltoną
nendrės stiebą,
o jis sustingęs žvelgė į rytus –
ten mėnulis dažytomis akimis
laivus greitus į jūrą bundančią
jau leido.

to feel
the heat of a fire that hardly glittered,

there the sun with closed eyes
weaved a new cloak for the fields.

into the deathbird that split
a yellow stem of the reed,
